...Community service ...
What? Community service? What's that? No, I’m just kidding!
One day my best friend told me we couldn’t go out because
he had to do community service for college. Not really knowing what he was talking about I
joined him. And you know, I really enjoyed!
We went to the playground near the elementary school. Children were running around like tornadoes and
screaming all the time. They were playing. I still have no idea what was the
game about. A few adults were to supervise them, but they surely couldn't manage to do the job properly. And we were to help them. Anyway, for about 4 hours we supervised the kids. When the
festival was almost over I was asked to give prizes to the most active "runners".
And that was the best part out of all. I remember looking at their happy faces, looking in their eyes
– they were happy to get even the smallest present!!!
Another memorable time was at local elementary school where me and other FLEX students gave the presentation about Ukraine. Children were so happy to see us, they had millions of questions to ask, and we had millions of answers to the questions :)
We aslo visited local church and presented our countries to the communites. I wore ukrainian national costume, made ukrainian traditional food and sang national songs.
