...Traveling around the USA ...
Traveling is always exciting!!!
My host familly was used to travel by car and I have a bad habit of falling asleep during long car rides. My dad was always getting pissed off, because I slept during most of our journeys. But I made myself realize that I can’t sleep during that time. It is too valuable to waste it for sleeping.
We didn’t travel that much, but every time we went somewhere was really unbelievable and unforgettable!
During the first week of new life my “dad” decided to take me to ride the scooter. I didn’t really understood what he was talking about, but having a great curiosity I agreed to join him.
Firstly I should say that a scooter wasn’t really one (at least I didn't imagine it like that). It was rather a
four track or a four - wheeler. We went to the desert and went on riding for an
entire day. I was sitting behind Tommy and trying to “hold on tight” not to
fall down. When we got homeTracywent on laughing at me – I looked like a mummy. I was all in dust, and only
skin around my eyes looked normal – I wore sunglasses.
That was my first traveling experience.
Another time we went to ride the scooter was around Christmas. We went to the Death Valley on sand dunes. It was really new for me. The air was cold and I had to wear my winter jacket, but the sand was just like on the beach – two completely different things combined in one place. It was like skiing but on the sand. I was really scared every time we got to the top of the sand dune – I looked down and it seemed like it’s impossible to get down safely. And besides – one wrong move and you can really get stuck in the sand. But Tommy was really good at riding scooters, so we never got stuck.
Also my host dad took me to New Mexico,
so we traveled trough Arizona as well. I saw Indian reservation with my own eyes.
Another time we got to leaveLas Vegaswas in May. My dad decided to go toColoradoto visit his old mother and elder brother. So we got our stuff packed and took off. The trip was awesome. I got to see Utah and its “nature”, I mean desert, Rocky Mountains and theColorado River. I got to touch snow in May and play with it. I will never forget those awesome times.
Also I got to travel with my placement organization (AYUSA)– we went to LA. On Friday
after another busy school day my local rep picked me and Olga (another girl fromUkrainewho lived almost next door)
up and we joined the rest of the group of foreign exchange students from all over the world.
Our
trip lasted 5 awesome days. I bet I will never forget that week we got to spend
in the dream place of my childood. We got to spend entire day at Disneyland in Anehiem - we went
to Theme Park at Disneyland Resort. We had really fun
time enjoying Autopia, Tarzan’s Treehouse,
During spring break we also got to see other famous places in Los Angeles: Hollywood, Beverly Hills,
Melrose Place,
Universal Studios. The last day we got to spend at the pacific ocean - enjoying the air and trying to get some tan.
